Hot Stone Massage

A hot stone massage is a deep massage that uses soothing oils, warm basalt and sometimes cold marble stones to relax your muscles.

Hot stone treatments alternate warmth and cold — a technique which has proven beneficial to soothe an aching body.

Hot stone massage combines relaxing warmth and refreshing coolness to encourage the body to detox and heal. This also increases lymph flow and helps to flush out waste.

Heat relaxes your body in a short space of time, so the focus can be put into working deeply into the tissues using both hot stones and hand strokes.
Hot stones also increase your sense of relaxation and calm. They are coated in fragrant oil which is smoothed gently onto your body, and each stone, in turn, is worked by your therapist’s hands.

Hot stone massage can:
boost your circulation
release stored tension
recharge your energy levels
relax you

A hot stone massage is said to have health benefits for people with:
muscular pain
poor circulation
rheumatic and arthritic conditions
fibromyalgia
back pain
stress
insomnia
depression

As with all spa therapies, never underestimate the feel-good factor. Hot stone massage will help you feel nurtured, pampered and special.

Swedish Massage

Swedish body massage is the original Western massage technique involving a sequence of movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers using a variety of stroking, kneading, pressure and flowing movements over the body.

How does Swedish Massage work?
The many different types of hand movements used throughout this massage are designed to relax and energize the body by stimulating circulation. Toxins are released from the muscles, the nervous system is stimulated and emotional and physical stress is reduced.

Swedish massage involves the use of massage oil to allow free movement of the massage techniques and to nourish the skin. A full body massage usually treats the back, legs, abdomen, arms, chest and neck, although this can be adapted to suit your individual requirements or preferences. A combination of long strokes, kneading, rolling, rubbing, gliding, vibration, percussive and tapping movements, are used to provide a relaxing and energising experience.

How can Swedish Massage help?
Swedish Massage nurtures the mind, body and spirit and can help relieve a variety of physical symptoms.

These are some of the many benefits that you may experience:
Reduce overall stress and anxiety
Increase energy levels
Increase mental clarity
Alleviate muscular tension & stiffness
Increase mobility & flexibility
Encourage better circulation
Encourage deeper & more efficient breathing
Improve skin elasticity
Boost the immune system

Pregnancy Massage

The journey of pregnancy is a truly special time. Why not treat yourself, and enjoy some you time with mother-to-be massage?

Pregnancy massage is a hands-on massage during or after pregnancy (prenatal or postnatal massage).

Pregnancy massage is similar in many ways to a normal massage, the main difference being that massage techniques used in pregnancy are adapted to maintain the wellbeing of mother and child.

Prenatal massages are generally considered safe after the first trimester, as long as you get the green light from your practitioner and you let your massage therapist know you’re pregnant.

During pregnancy, regular prenatal massages may not only help you to relax, but may also relieve and improve how you feel during your pregnancy;

These improvements include:
Relief from aching muscles and joint pain
Reduction in anxiety and stress by increasing “feel-good” hormones
Rejuvenating energy
Improved sleep

The treatment consists of you being massaged on both sides of the body, beginning with the back, and then moving onto the legs, hands, arms and feet.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage massage is a form of gentle massage that encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body.
The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from the bodily tissues. Some health conditions can cause lymph fluid to build up.

Lymphatic drainage massages can benefit people with lymphedema, fibromyalgia, and other health conditions.

The lymphatic system relies on the movement of smooth muscles to transport fluid through the lymph vessels. Particular health conditions can interrupt the normal flow of lymph, causing lymph fluid to build up in a particular area of the body, often caused by infections, cancer treatments that involve the removal of lymph nodes, and any condition that damages the lymphatic system.

Lymphatic drainage massage can benefit people who are experiencing the following:

  • Lymphedema
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Swelling or Edema
  • Skin disorders
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Stress
  • Digestive problems
  • Arthritis
  • Migraine episodes
